Blinkink signs Katy Wang
The animation director is known for her playful characters and bold colours.
Animation director Katy Wang has officially joined UK production company Blinkink.
Wang's work plays with the senses in a way that lends an authentically human element to all of her visuals, with an animation style which brings playful characters to life through bold colours and textural brush strokes.
Her work includes the short film Contact which follows a lonely astronaut searching for human contact on a stranded planet. She was also behind the creative visuals for three poems by Atticus, Yrsa Daley-Ward and JM Storm for World Poetry Day. Her short film An Invisible Threat was created in partnership with the Girl Effect and Nutrition International - the global nutrition organisation working to transform the lives of vulnerable people by improving their nutritional status. She has also created music videos for Toto Bona Lokua and Tom Rosenthal.
She graduated in 2017 with a first class degree in Illustration Animation BA (Hons) from Kingston School of Art and was selected as one of It's Nice That's Graduates of the Year 2017.
On joining Blinkink, Wang says: "The playfulness and experimentation and the boldness of Blinkink's voice as a production company was really appealing to me and also representative of the kind of work I want to be making."
