In this sumptuous promo for Corpo Continente, a new track from the Brazilian singer/songwriter Céu, a man wracked with cravings paddleboards his way into a whole lot of weird.
Director Saavedra says he drew inspiration for the film from the word ‘saudade’, which only exists in the Portuguese language and roughly translates as ‘longing.’ He draws a parallel between the longing for a lover and the longing we will all soon feel for the natural world if we don’t take care of it.
At first hungry for a mysterious floral drug he begs from his dealer, our hapless hero trips out of the urban grime into a lush, watery world where he encounters synchronised swimmers, sensuous seaweed and finally the amazing twig woman – Ceu – whose siren song lures him onto the rocks.
It's a beautiful piece of work and was produced by Landia, who represents Saavedra in Latin America.
