Canadian director Pete Henderson signs with Mechaniks in the US.

Venice, CA-based production company Mechaniks has signed veteran Canadian director Pete Henderson for US representation. Long considered to be one of Canada’s top directors, Henderson’s career began in music videos, where he won numerous awards for clips for such artists as Blue Rodeo and Barenaked Ladies.  He won a MVA “Best Video” award for The Tragically Hip’s “Locked in the Trunk of a Car.

In the late 1990s Henderson transitioned into commercials, first winning Saatchi’s “Best New Director/First Cut Award,” then making it on to the agency’s Cannes New Directors Showcase.

Since then, Henderson’s comedy performance work has resulted in numerous award show winners for his agency clients.  Among the brands he’s work for are Molson, KFC, the NHL, Bud and Rogers Cable.  He recently wrapped two new spots for Rogers and a new spot for Tim Horton’s.  He’s currently represented in Canada by Steam Films and by OTO Films in Eastern Europe.
