Santa’s workshop gets an upgrade as Cardi B turns Pepsi into cash in A Cardi Carol, developed by Vayner Media.
After an illustrated Christmas poem featuring Cardi B and her little sister as children, the ad finds Cardi B on the phone with her manager, telling them that she needs “that Pepsi money.” A cheeky poke at celeb endorsements, and Cardi’s own history with Pepsi, A Cardi Carol goes into Santa’s Twerk Shop as Cardi turns Pepsi into money to give away for Christmas. Wearing a beautiful blue sparkly jumpsuit that looks like it could have been in Frozen if Elsa were from the Bronx, Cardi B tours the Twerk Shop, gives advice, and just does Cardi.
The ad is full of fun production details; the bills have Cardi B’s face on them, the neon "Wrap Studio" sign in the background, a dancing elf by the North Pole (instead of a stripper’s pole), the traditional toy trains chugging around are subway cars, the Bronx-bound 6 a wink to Cardi’s borough. With a deft hand that creates a lighthearted video, production company Supply & Demand has poured an enormous amount of energy into the particulars of A Cardi Carol. The ad is fun and irreverent, a little naughty and nice, just like Cardi.
