In this latest episode of fashion brand Gucci’s GG Legends docuseries, Outsider director Tom Day tells the inspirational story of female basketball player and gamer Aerial Powers.
Splicing together moving interviews with atmospheric film footage of her hometown, Detroit, the documentary spotlights how Powers fought her way from being the only girl on her local courts to a WNBA star, paving the way for other young female players.
The short goes on to reveal how Power’s all-in attitude also inspired her second passion, video gaming, where she started the 2k tournament in hope of creating a safe space in another seemingly male-dominated world, where girls can feel heard, included and equal.
