Whilst the idea of leaving the house might just be a pipedream for many of us at the moment, there's no mistaking the pang of familiarity you get when you see something that reminds you of home.
Utilising her skill for capturing authenticity and empathy through her filmmaking, Knucklehead director Charlotte Regan's emotionally powered spot for Branstons sees a young woman adapting to the next stage of her life, all the whilst being lovingly inspired by her mum over voicemail.
Filled with identifiable moments and with a lovely central performance, Hit of Home from Wonderhood Studios (their first piece of work for Mizkan since winning their portfolio of brands in February) eschews the cheese in its tale of pickle.
“It was important for me to create in-depth backstories for our characters," comments Regan. "I think it affects all those tiny decisions you make throughout the process. Would Mia drink coffee or tea? Would she enjoy the rain or hate it? When those decisions come from a character-motivated place it helps you keep a grasp on the story and hopefully, that shows in the film.
"The shoot was honestly a joy. I’d never worked with the DP and he was a legend. Weirdly the voiceover was maybe my favourite part. Hilary, who we street cast, was an absolute ledge too. We got to travel up to her and hang-out whilst we recorded it”.
