Haunted by memories of her past relationships, a woman embarks on a soul-searching journey in this arresting short, titled Sauve Qui Peut (Every Man for Himself).

“In terms of influences,” says the fledgling director, “I drew mainly from the surrealist movement, using as a starting point, excerpts from André Breton’s Nadja.” One of the seminal works of the French surrealist movement, Breton’s book begins with the question "Who am I?".

The director’s graphic references were also inspired by Japanese live-action movies; “mostly for their atmosphere and framing, for example works by Shūji Terayama and Nobuhiko Ōbayashi.”

To meet both the technological and artistic challenges of finishing a project in such a short timeframe, Passalacqua used entirely digital sets and animations.
