“You can see it in my eyes, you think I’m scum that I should die… I’m a piece of shit, like flies that hover over cottage pies”
Kam-bu’s brilliantly bitter lyrics (which possibly mark the first time an innocent cottage pie has been used in blistering political satire) get an equally unforgiving promo in Green’s portrayal of politician ‘Richard Fibber’ whose stretching snout betrays his mendacity.
Representing entitled Establishment politicians with low regard for the working classes, the promo depicts the scurrilous, dishonest activities of “the boys from Eton who always leave a mess” – those who have contributed to the UK’s cost of living crisis.
As the Pinnochio-inspired Fibber rallies for the PM role, negotiating back-hand deals along the way, his burgeoning snout attracts the wrong kind of social, leading to a note of hope – it is the people who can bring liars to their knees.
