Narrated by Mohamed, London Sleeps shows a different side of a city that is known for its activity, population, and love of Christmas.
Early on the 25th, Mohamed, a football coach from south London, rode his bike through London, capturing the bright lights, beautiful buildings, and empty streets. He later composed a poem that lovingly realizes London in all its emptiness, and all its fullness. The resulting video is a sweet look at a once-a-year miracle of silence in the city.
Developed by The Unmistakables, made and produced by Mohamed Mohamed and commissioned by the Museum of London, the short film celebrates what gives modern London its character. It was filmed almost exclusively with small handheld camera attached to Mohamed's helmet, giving an intimate, private journey through London, and Mohamed's own point of view. Touching on poetry, community, love, and the diversity of the city, London Sleeps is a peek in at a city at rest.
