Slow-moving grannies, deranged boffins and Spinal Tap-alike guitarists are all employed to comically convey the message from Aussie telco brand Optus that 5G isn’t that hard to get one's head around. 

Using character groups of five people all beginning with the letter ‘G’, the films, Explained by 5Grannies, Explained by 5Guitarists and Explained by 5Geniuses, promote 5G attributes such as speed and ease of use. 

Produced by Revolver/Will O’Rourke, they mark the first campaign out of Sydney-based creative studio Bear Meets Eagle On Fire – a new venture founded by Micah Walker (former Fallon London partner, W+K Portland CD) and Josh Mullens (former EP of Revolver/Will O’Rourke).

“People don’t want something they don’t understand,” said Optus Head of Marketing, Melissa Hopkins. “This is just the start of an ongoing conversation that we will continue to have with Australia over the coming years, as Optus 5G continues to roll out.” The initial trio of spots is to be followed up by explanations from 5Game Characters.
