In this hilarious, holiday-centred spot, created in-house at Specsavers through Merman, cult comedy director Declan Lowney (known for Ted Lasso and Father Ted) reimagines the optician brand’s iconic Should’ve joke through the eyes of a straggling traveller.

Crafted entirely without dialogue and with an emphasis on visual humour, the spot follows a couple, Greg and Ella, who are about to go on holiday. Ella checks in serenely ahead of Greg whilst he parks the car, finally entering the airport lobby with his wheelie suitcase and cutting it fine to make the departure.

The protagonist-turned-stunt-man skids around the airport, angrily battling an array or cringe-worthily relatable airport obstacles, before finally arriving at his departure gate on time. As he climbs the stairs to his plane, Lowney delivers the long-anticipated signature Specsavers punchline.
