Trio Films Adds New York-based Director Otis

Otis joins the directorial ranks at Trio Films.

The L.A.-based production company Trio Films recently added the director who goes by the single name of Otis to its roster. He joins from The Artists Company, where he directed spots for the past five years. While there he was chosen to be part of the SHOOT New Directors Showcase in 2009.

"Otis is great at directing spots that consistently drive messages of social value, and we're thrilled to have him join the Trio roster," says Trio Films' Co-Founder and EP Taylor Ferguson. "His work spans a variety of genres, but the consistent thread that shines through is his ability to showcase beautiful authentic slices of life from both actors and non-actors alike."

Otis is known for his documentary approach to commercials, PSAs and music videos that have featured both celebrities and real people. His recent work includes Neutrogena's Skin ID campaign with Hayden Panattiere, through agency Roberts + Langer in New York, a campaign he was invited back to direct two years in a row; Dove's "Movement for Self-Esteem" advocacy campaign; and the "Made in New York" campaign for the New York City Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting.

Otis graduated from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and cut his teeth in the spot world with assistant editing and motion graphics work before landing at The Artists Company. Starting out with music videos, Otis eventually found his calling in spot work. He's currently prepping a series of short films for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), to showcase how various underprivileged communities are fighting obesity and smoking. This campaign, created by Ogilvy's office in Washington DC, is being shot in various cities across the US.

At Trio Otis joins a directorial roster that includes Todd Field, Ramaa Mosley, Jackie Oudney, Bob Rice and James Weitz.
