Christmas isn’t Christmas without a helping of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s singing nun-packed musical epic. And setting its fiendishly catchy track, My Favourite Things, to a snack-based re-write sung by Anna Kendrick, well, you’ve gotta take your Santa’s hat off to the team.
Produced by RadicalMedia, the film, Frito-Lay Anthem, boasts a scrumptious litany of Yuletide tropes: sparkling snow; jingling bells; a gingerbread house (Dorito-decorated, of course), and Kendrick’s updated Maria Von Trapp delivering angelic vocals while dancing around in “warm ugly sweaters”.
Among shots’ favourite things in the witty script is the unforgettable rhyme: “Scooping tostitos with salsa and queso. Lays and Doritos if I have my say-so...”
Different cuts of the ad will start appearing in the US on different holiday events, with a 90-second version appearing this Thursday during NBC's broadcast of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. While a 30-second version will air during NBA games played on Christmas Day.
