Directing and animating duo Arthur Chaumay and Simon Duong van Huyen, known as Faux Soleil, were inspired to develop this exquisite animated film after listening to cellist Anne Müller’s album Heliopause

Nummer 2, produced through Eddy, paints a haunting picture of a dark, post-apocalyptic world, alternating between vast scenes of barren yet beautiful landscapes and mutated creatures, paired with a powerful cello soundtrack by Müller.

Faux Soleil have taken an alternative and contemplative visual approach to addressing the climate crisis,  depicting the resilience of nature through beautiful atmospheric scenes that envision the thriving of once-extinct animals in a world post human civilisations.

The storyboard and concept were a collaborative effort - with the help of a small team of animators, Duong van Huyen designed the animals to life, and Chaumay created the colourscript and backgrounds, drawing from a range of photographic, architectural and cinematographic influences.
