Homelessness is an issue which affects every city, but the pandemic of this year has exacerbated the situation, taking it to new heights.
The Abbé Pierre Foundation, a French charity devoted to helping the homeless, has launched this new campaign to highlight a health crisis that has not only weakened those on the streets but also many in already precarious situations. It is estimated that this coronavirus crisis has pushed a million people in France into poverty.
While French people showed tremendous generosity during the first phase of the coronavirus restrictions, the charity is unsure what will happen when the economic crisis bites and more people have to tighten their belts.
That’s why this year the Abbé Pierre Foundation wanted to appeal to French generosity with a message of hope on the theme of solidarity. Created by Altmann+Pacreau and directed by Éric Lartigau through Birth Paris, the campaign, rather than rebuking people or pointing fingers, sends a message that showcases the strength of a community. 'Alone, we can help. Together, we can save' is the signature in the new campaign, which shows that small daily gestures allow homeless people to survive, but that they need all of us to live again.
