Created by Wieden+Kennedy Tokyo for Nike Japan and directed by Georgia Hudson through Park Pictures, this epic magical realist spot draws on a range of Japanese cultural elements to express the liberating power of sport.
Titled Imperfect You, it follows a Gen-Z girl from Tokyo as she struggles with societal pressures and false notions of freedom.
Setting out to discover her authentic self, she whirls back through history, challenging the conformity imposed on women and coming to celebrate her own imperfections and strength.
Skaters Yurin Fujii and Ginwood Onodera and breaker Ami Yuasa are among the Nike athletes appearing in the spot, which was filmed on location in Tokyo with sumptuous cinematography by Steve Annis.
