Director Reuben Sutherland has gone back in time to create another visual feast, this time for the band Partefacts' new single, Time Travel.
Created through production company Joyrider London, Sutherland's inspiration for the video was the title sequence from Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, while also deciding to give the visuals a more two dimensional, platform game styling.
Photo stills of the band were taken during lockdown in Berlin, and the video commissioner’s challenge to Sutherland was to integrate these images into the initial designs he had for the video. The finished video is a colourful, pixelated powerhouse that references a number of classic video games. “I’ve always loved the look of TV shows from the late 70s and early 80s," said Sutherland, "so marrying this with games like Street Fighter and Mario Brothers was really a great aesthetic that worked well for the lyrics.”
