Peperami meats the movies

We kinda expect our action movie stars to be meatheads, but in this new spot for salami sausage snack Peperami, it turns out they're meat bodies as well.

Taking its influence from blockbuster flicks and sports commercials, the lunchbox classic brings back it's age-old mascot Animal whilst introducing two new friends - Chicken and Beef. Directed by Rick and Mario at Partizan Studios, We Are Animal sees the titular character leaping between buildings, chucky Beef pumping iron and, in a particular highlight, Chicken aping Flashdance and Footloose in a delightful warehouse boogie.

“It’s an interesting creative challenge”, comments Dave Henderson and Guy Bradbury, creative partners at Atomic London (the agency behind the spot), “taking a classic brand from an era steeped in bawdy lad culture, and reinventing it for a new, earnest cultural backdrop. It may be a serious protein snack for serious times, but thank god there are brands like Peperami that can still play it stupid.” 

With pitch-perfect pastiches of its reference points and tastily textured animation making it look a million dollars, this spot is a welcome return for our favourite bonkers banger.
