Soft-spoken and powerful, this PSA from RAINN showcases the quiet horror of having to wait in a hospital in order to receive a forensic exam.
With an intimate lens into a hospital waiting room, a young woman waits. And waits. And waits. She flinches at loud noises, fidgets in her chair, and cries as she’s forced to watch the entire waiting room empty. The movie is stark and emotion, and while there’s so much left unsaid in Wait, the sad, scary reality is made very clear.
Writer/director Samantha Scaffidi has created an intense and confident film that clearly expresses the urgency needed to address the obstacles that face survivors of sexual assault. Wait could be a documentary, and the reality of that is terrifying.
