“I am a four-time world champion due to the loving relationship I've had with my Japanese sword, archery bow, and even the tower crane I operate," so said Erika LaBrie, a competitive archer, who, in 2007 changed her name to Erika Eiffel after falling for and ‘marrying’ the lofty Paris monument.

Well we all need someone to lean on. In 2015, artist Tracey Emin famously exchanged vows with a large stone in France, claiming it would never let her down.

Created by Lisbon indie agency Stream and Tough Guy, this fun promotion explores the fetish objectum sexuality, or objectophilia – a not entirely irrational amour for inanimate objects.

With a faux saucy film directed by Vladimiro Leopoldo and a tongue-in-cheek adult website boasting lush photography by Luís Mileu, the campaign claims to understand those who get turned on by lamps or worked up by wardrobes. As the commentary says, "we have a thing for things too."

Other famous objectophiles include Lee Jin-gyu, a South Korean who married his pillow and Edward Smith from Washington, who’s enjoys love in the fast lane, having had sex with nearly 1000 cars and a helicopter.
