Created by Type1/TAXI through Nova Film, Le Pompiste uses cinematically shot scenes and heartwarming humour to hook the viewer on the story of a despondent gas station attendant, who hasn’t seen a soul for hours.

When a car finally pulls up, he returns to his position behind the till in hopes of a big sale. The driver, played by Volkswagen’s Quebec-market spokesperson Pier-Luc Funk, proceeds to place a measly packet of bubble gum on the counter.

He explains that his car is electric so he doesn't need gas, but on seeing the disappointment in the attendant's eyes, searches for something else to buy. He returns to his car humorously laden with screen wash, fishing nets, sunglasses and more.

The story plays on the lyrics of the song Le Pompiste (The Gas Station Attendant) by Jean-Jacques Cramier.
